Kolkata, 23 August (H.S.): As the BJP government in West Bengal completed 100 days in office, Rural Development Minister Dilip Ghosh on Sunday shared details of the government's work and highlighted several initiatives undertaken during the period.
In a video shared on social media, Ghosh outlined the government's achievements in areas including panchayat administration, housing, employment, sanitation and rural infrastructure.
According to Ghosh, under the second phase of the housing initiative, ₹60,000 has been transferred to the bank accounts of 10.20 lakh beneficiaries out of 18 lakh incomplete housing projects. He also said that more than 38 lakh households have been surveyed under the 'Awas Plus' survey.
The minister said the government was also working to expand employment opportunities and ensure access to income-generating work for people through various schemes. An initiative has been introduced to link 90 days of wage employment with each house constructed under the housing scheme, potentially providing an additional income of up to ₹27,000 to beneficiary families.
Ghosh further said that, in cooperation with the Panchayat and Rural Development Department and the Forest Department, the government has set a target of planting more than 40 lakh saplings. Efforts are also being accelerated to construct toilets in rural areas.
The government has also started the process of renovating unused buildings, sheds, warehouses and shops and putting them out on rent again. The allocation of shops in newly developed market complexes has also been completed, he said.
Ghosh said the completion of 100 days was not merely a measure of time, but represented the pace of work and the beginning of efforts to take West Bengal towards a new phase of development and change.
