Guwahati, 23 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said the state was preparing for the next major phase of development, asserting that the transformation of infrastructure would continue across Assam.

In a social media post, Sarma said people had witnessed the transformation of the state’s infrastructure and highlighted ongoing development in areas ranging from roads and hospitals to housing and bridges. He said the achievements of the first 100 days were “just a trailer” of the larger development agenda ahead.

The Chief Minister also highlighted initiatives undertaken during the government’s recent 100-plus days to strengthen the rural economy by empowering weavers and supporting Assam’s traditional textile sector.

He said efforts were being made to promote muga exports, increase procurement of handloom products and empower weavers as part of the government’s drive towards building a self-reliant Assam.

On law and order, Sarma said the state’s fight against crime and criminals had produced strong results. He said sustained efforts by the Assam Police had strengthened and accelerated the justice delivery process, from the filing of FIRs to the submission of charge sheets and ultimately the delivery of justice.

“Our fight against crime will continue, with no compromise under any circumstances,” the Chief Minister said.------------
