
Kolkata, 22 August (H.S.): Panic spread in the Swamiji Nagar area of New Town on Saturday morning after the half-decomposed body of a man was found stuffed inside a bag lying by the roadside.
According to local residents, a suspicious bag was found lying along the road, following which they informed the police. Police reached the spot, opened the bag and recovered the body of a man from inside.
The body was recovered and sent for post-mortem examination. Police identified the deceased as Saurav Biswas, aged around 32 to 35 years. Preliminary investigation suggests that the man may have been murdered two to three days ago.
Police said several injury marks were found on the body. Multiple tattoo marks were also reportedly found across his body, which investigators believe could provide important clues to confirm his identity and trace his background.
During the investigation, police also obtained some important images and footage from CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity of the spot. Investigators are examining the footage to determine who brought the body to the area and when it was dumped there.
Eco Park Police have initiated an investigation into the case. Police are examining various angles to establish the motive behind the suspected murder and identify those involved. Further details regarding the exact cause of death are expected after the post-mortem report is received.
