Kamrup (Assam), 22 August (HS): At least four people have arrested and a large quantity of suspected heroin was seized during a police operation at Kalyanpur under Nagarbera Police Station in Kamrup (Rural) district.

Acting on information provided by Boko-Chhaygaon CDS and APS Janakishore Gogoi, a police team led by SI Champak Kalita, IC of Tupamari Outpost, along with SI Harjit Das, OC of Nagarbera Police Station, and other personnel, conducted a search at a house in Kalyanpur late Friday night in the presence of independent witnesses.

During the operation, police recovered 21 grams of suspected heroin from two containers, with a total weight of 72 grams, and another 25 grams of suspected heroin from 30 filled vials, with a total weight of 55 grams. The team also seized 157 empty containers/vials, four mobile phones and ₹3,240 in cash.

The arrested persons have been identified as Zahadul Islam, Zamiran Nessa and Tohinul Ali, all residents of Kalyanpur under Nagarbera Police Station, and Md Jamal Badshah of Bilasipara in Dhubri district.

Police said the suspected contraband and other items were seized following due legal procedures. Further investigation is underway and necessary legal action will be taken.-------------
