(HS): A facility for landing of a helicopter is being made on the terrace of the
Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital, Nagpur. IGGMCH established
in 1967 building complex is being renovated and expended. With the construction
of a helipad for helicopter ambulance will be an additional facility for people
in the region. It will also help the patients get treatment during the ‘Golden
Hour’.
The renovation
work is in progress by investing Rs 146 crore. The seven-storey new building originally
planned will now be now a 11-Storey complex and increasing bed capacity by 600,
making it a 1,35o bed government hospital.
Union Minister
Nitin Gadkari performed the bhoomipujan of the expansion of the hospital in
February 2024. The additional floors were planned later to the original
seven-storey building with a helipad on the terrace.
The facility to
land a helicopter will help the patients from Central India to get treatment in
medical emergency, which is called the ‘Golden Hour’ by medical practitioners.
