Situation became worse due to lack of cleaning of drains in
cities and digging of drains in rural areas, ex-MP held talks with
administrative officials
Prayagraj, 22 Aug (HS): Former MP Kunwar Reoti Raman Singh
spoke to the administrative officials and said that the crops which were ruined
due to drowning in water due to non-digging of drains should be surveyed and
proper compensation should be given to the affected farmers. He told the Meja
SDM that due to non-digging of drains and sewers in Meja, Manda, water
accumulated in the farmers' fields for many days and the crops were ruined,
hence an immediate survey should be conducted and the farmers should be given
compensation from the government. He has also told the officials of Koraon,
Karchana Bara in the same manner.
MP representative Vinay Kushwaha said that when former
minister Kunwar Revati Raman Singh was the irrigation minister, he had got
drains and sewers dug on a large scale during his tenure, but today the
situation is different. He said that fertilizers are not available, whatever
they get after standing in line for hours, the farmers use their hard work and
capital to prepare the crop, but due to the negligence of the government
machinery, rainwater remains filled in the fields and the crops rot. If the
drains and sewers had been dug in time, the hard work and capital of the
farmers would not have gone waste. He said that if the city drains had been
cleaned before the onset of the monsoons, there would not have been such a
terrible situation of waterlogging today.
