New Delhi, 22 August (H.S.): East Delhi Riders produced an impressive all-round performance to defeat Outer Delhi Warriors by seven wickets in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026. Following the victory, Riders captain Simarjeet Singh spoke about the team’s changed approach, the lessons learned from their slow start to the tournament and his bowling partnership with fast bowler Mayank Yadav.
Speaking after the match, Simarjeet said the team had concentrated on giving its best as individuals and returning to the competition with a strong mindset. Rather than placing excessive pressure on themselves or worrying about whether they were heading towards elimination or progressing further in the tournament, the players focused on playing good cricket and demonstrating their capabilities to the coaching staff, management and supporters.
He said the team was not concerned about the performances of other sides and was instead concentrating on its own game and learning for the future. The captain added that the players were determined not to repeat the mistakes they had made earlier in the competition, with the objective of performing well individually and finishing the tournament strongly as a team.
Simarjeet also heaped praise on Mayank Yadav, describing him as one of the fastest bowlers in India. He noted that Mayank is closely associated with Delhi cricket and has been an inspiration for younger players while also sharing his experience of representing India.
Simarjeet described bowling alongside Mayank as a particularly rewarding experience and praised the young pacer’s ability to contribute to the team.
