
Lucknow, 21 Aug (HS): On the occasion of Bharat Ratna and
iconic shehnai maestro Ustad Bismillah Khan's death anniversary, Uttar Pradesh
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath offered emotional condolences, recognizing his
significant contribution to Indian classical music and cultural legacy. Ustad
Bismillah Khan died on August 21, 2006.
CM Yogi's Message: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to maestro on
social media site X, describing him as a wonderful note worshiper (suron ke
mahaan aradhak) and an exceptional shehnai musician.
Cultural Legacy: The state's leadership emphasized how maestro brought
shehnai's heartfelt music from the ghats of Varanasi to the world arena.
Historical significance: Ustad Bismillah Khan notably played the shehnai to
commemorate India's independence on August 15, 1947, and was granted India's
highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna in 2001.
UP CM remarked in a post on X, “On the death anniversary of
the great devotee of ragas, the true practitioner of art, and the extraordinary
maestro of the shehnai, 'Bharat Ratna' Ustad Bismillah Khan, humble tributes.”
