New Delhi, 21 August (H.S.): India’s medal hopes at the BWF World Championships 2026 will rest on the country’s doubles pairs on Friday, the fifth day of the tournament. Women’s doubles duo Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, along with men’s doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, will take the court in their respective quarter-final matches.

Treesa and Gayatri will face fourth-seeded Chinese pair Jia Yifan and Zhang Shuxian. The match is scheduled to begin at around 1:50 pm on Court 1.

Meanwhile, fifth-seeded Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will take on third-seeded Chinese pair Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang. Their quarter-final is scheduled for around 6:00 pm on Court 1.

India’s hopes of winning a singles medal ended on Thursday after PV Sindhu and Ayush Shetty suffered defeats. As a result, Indian fans will now have their eyes firmly fixed on the two doubles pairs.
