Jiribam (Manipur), 21 August (HS): Six persons were arrested and suspected narcotics were seized during a joint operation conducted in Jiribam district on August 20.

Acting on credible information about the movement of anti-social elements in and around Tipidor and Choudhurykhal villages along the Barak River, a combined team of Borobekra Police Station, 39 Assam Rifles and 20 Battalion CRPF launched a special operation.

During the operation, six persons travelling in a local boat were intercepted and detained at Tipidor village. The security forces recovered 9.412 kg of suspected WY tablets and 177 grams of suspected Heroin No. 4 powder from their possession.

The arrested persons have been identified as Elbethel Lungtau, Pana Hmar, Denthar Hmar, Laltiunglien Hmar, Lal Ramthar Hmar and Thowna Hmar.

Further investigation into the case is underway.----------
