New Delhi, 21 August (H.S.): Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das has approached the Delhi High Court, alleging that media commentator Abhijit Iyer-Mitra, news platform LawBeat, Jaipur Dialogues, Sunday Guardian and certain social media accounts publicly disclosed his residential address. Das has sought ₹2 lakh in compensation, alleging violation of his right to privacy.
In his petition, Das alleged that the respondents attempted to infringe upon his privacy by publishing his residential address through their respective accounts. He has sought directions from the court requiring the respondents to remove videos and social media posts containing information identifying his residential address.
Das stated that he has been living in a rented house in Greater Kailash-I since 2025. According to the petition, representatives of The Pamphlet allegedly entered the premises without authorisation and recorded videos of the interior of his residence, which were subsequently shared on the social media platform X on August 5. The video allegedly revealed his residential address. The petition claimed that the video was viewed by more than two million people.
The petition further alleged that Abhijit Iyer-Mitra, in an article published on the LawBeat website, incorrectly identified the name of Das’s neighbour and claimed that the house had a monthly rent of ₹7 lakh.
Das said he lodged a complaint with the police on August 5 but alleged that no action was taken.
Saurav Das had played a significant role in the Cockroach Janata Party’s protest at Jantar Mantar. Following the protest at Jantar Mantar, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was allegedly forced to resign.
