Prayagraj, 21 Aug (HS): A social and awareness program for

female inmates was organized on Friday at the Naini District Jail, jointly

organized by the Jila Mahila Vyapaar Mandal and the House of Kosam. During the

program, 200 sanitary pads were distributed to the female inmates, and

important information regarding menstruation and hygiene was provided.

On this occasion, Avantika Tandon, President of the Jila Mahila Vyapaar Mandal,

met with Jail Superintendent Amita Dubey discussed in detail the welfare of

women prisoners and improving their future. During the conversation, special

emphasis was placed on connecting them with various government schemes and

providing employment and skill development opportunities to make them

self-reliant.

Fatima Ali, Treasurer of the House of Kosam, discussed with the women the

problems they face during menstruation and the necessary precautions they

should take. She distributed 200 sanitary pads to the female inmates through

the Ritu Chakra program.

Speaking with the women prisoners, Hina Khan, Senior Vice President of the Jila

Mahila Vyapaar Mandal encouraged them to move forward with a positive mindset

and learn something new while in prison. She said that any skill can be an

important step towards becoming self-reliant in the future.

about their interests and needs. She tried to understand what tasks or skills

the women wanted to learn, so that she could work towards training and

employment-oriented activities tailored to their interests.

In the program, Dr. Shivani informed the women prisoners about the importance

of personal hygiene and cleanliness and made them aware to adopt a healthy

lifestyle.

On this occasion, Jailer Sunil Vishwakarma praised the efforts of the District

Women's Business Board and the House of Kosam, saying that such social programs

are crucial for the health, dignity, and self-reliance of female prisoners. He

expressed his hope that similar awareness and skill development programs would

be organized in the future for the benefit of female prisoners.

The main objective of the programme was to make women prisoners aware about

health, hygiene, respect and self-reliance and to make positive efforts towards

connecting them with the mainstream of the society.
