
Prayagraj, 21 Aug (HS): A social and awareness program for
female inmates was organized on Friday at the Naini District Jail, jointly
organized by the Jila Mahila Vyapaar Mandal and the House of Kosam. During the
program, 200 sanitary pads were distributed to the female inmates, and
important information regarding menstruation and hygiene was provided.
On this occasion, Avantika Tandon, President of the Jila Mahila Vyapaar Mandal,
met with Jail Superintendent Amita Dubey discussed in detail the welfare of
women prisoners and improving their future. During the conversation, special
emphasis was placed on connecting them with various government schemes and
providing employment and skill development opportunities to make them
self-reliant.
Fatima Ali, Treasurer of the House of Kosam, discussed with the women the
problems they face during menstruation and the necessary precautions they
should take. She distributed 200 sanitary pads to the female inmates through
the Ritu Chakra program.
Speaking with the women prisoners, Hina Khan, Senior Vice President of the Jila
Mahila Vyapaar Mandal encouraged them to move forward with a positive mindset
and learn something new while in prison. She said that any skill can be an
important step towards becoming self-reliant in the future.
Vice President Ragini Chandel also spoke with the women prisoners to learn
about their interests and needs. She tried to understand what tasks or skills
the women wanted to learn, so that she could work towards training and
employment-oriented activities tailored to their interests.
In the program, Dr. Shivani informed the women prisoners about the importance
of personal hygiene and cleanliness and made them aware to adopt a healthy
lifestyle.
On this occasion, Jailer Sunil Vishwakarma praised the efforts of the District
Women's Business Board and the House of Kosam, saying that such social programs
are crucial for the health, dignity, and self-reliance of female prisoners. He
expressed his hope that similar awareness and skill development programs would
be organized in the future for the benefit of female prisoners.
The main objective of the programme was to make women prisoners aware about
health, hygiene, respect and self-reliance and to make positive efforts towards
connecting them with the mainstream of the society.
