West Bengal, 21 August (H.S.): West Bengal government minister Sumana Sarkar visited the Jirat Ahmedpur Rural Hospital in the Balagarh Assembly constituency on Friday and reviewed the healthcare services and infrastructure available at the facility. The hospital has recently been renamed as Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Rural Hospital.

During her visit, the minister inspected various departments of the hospital and took stock of the medical services, basic infrastructure and facilities available for patients. She also interacted with patients undergoing treatment and enquired about the facilities being provided to them as well as any difficulties they were facing.

Sarkar conducted a ground-level assessment of the hospital's existing arrangements and reviewed how easily and effectively healthcare services were reaching local residents. Discussions were also held with the concerned officials regarding measures to improve medical services and expand facilities for patients.

The minister said providing better, accessible and people-oriented healthcare services to the general public remains one of the government's priorities. She said necessary steps would be taken in the coming days to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and make medical services more effective.

The renaming of the hospital and the minister's inspection generated considerable interest among local residents. People in the area expressed hope that the hospital would provide improved and more accessible healthcare services to the local community in the days ahead.
