Nagpur, 21 Aug
(HS): Nagpur’s Mayor Nita Thakre expressed discontent over violation of rules by
the administration by reciting only two stanzas of the National Song ‘Vande
Mataram…’ instead of complete six stanza, after the general body meeting.
Thakre wrote a
letter to the Municipal Commissioner Dr Vipin Itankar demanding action against
those responsible for it. Nagpur Municipal Corporation is ruled by Bharatiya
Janata Party. The meeting was held on Thursday.
Thakre in her
letter has mentioned that reciting all six stanzas is mandatory. President
Droupadi Murmu has consented to the Prevention of Insult to the National Song
2026, on August 11, 2026.
Reciting only
two stanzas amounts to insult to the National Song and required action against those
responsible for it.
The issue of hot
discussion in the political circles since Thursday.
