
New Delhi, 21 August (H.S.): Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav held a virtual meeting with Australia’s Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen on Friday. The two leaders discussed key issues related to climate change and global climate negotiations ahead of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31), scheduled to be held later this year.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the need for global cooperation and effective climate action to address the challenge of climate change. Bhupender Yadav said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has consistently remained part of global efforts to tackle climate change and contribute towards finding solutions to the challenge.
Reiterating India’s commitment to climate action, Yadav said cooperation and collective efforts among all countries were essential to addressing climate change. He added that India would continue to play a responsible role in advancing global climate goals.
Australian Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen appreciated India’s constructive approach and collaborative role in developing long-term solutions to address climate change.
The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening India-Australia cooperation on climate-related issues and working together in upcoming global climate negotiations. The meeting is being viewed as an important step towards enhancing climate coordination between the two countries ahead of COP31.
