New Delhi, 21 August (H.S.): Global markets are sending mixed signals on Friday, with US equities closing lower in the previous session, while Dow Jones futures are showing a marginal gain in early trade. European markets also remained under pressure during the previous session and ended on a mixed note. Asian markets, meanwhile, are witnessing mixed trading amid cautious investor sentiment.

The rise in the US 10-year Treasury yield to around 4.7 per cent had a visible impact on Wall Street. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by more than 700 points. Similarly, the S&P 500 ended the previous session 66.82 points, or 0.87 per cent, lower at 7,641.16. The Nasdaq Composite fell 263.92 points, or 1 per cent, to close at 26,067.17. Meanwhile, Dow Jones futures were trading 0.08 per cent higher at 52,799.45 points.

European markets closed mixed after remaining under pressure throughout the previous session. The FTSE index edged up 0.04 per cent to close at 10,748.16. In contrast, the CAC index declined 0.58 per cent to end the session at 8,453.09. The DAX also fell 108.29 points, or 0.42 per cent, to close at 25,983.04.

Asian markets were trading mixed on Friday. Of the nine major Asian markets, six indices were trading in positive territory, while three were in the red. Gift Nifty slipped 0.14 per cent to 24,263 points. The Nikkei index fell 237.79 points, or 0.36 per cent, to 65,979, while the Shanghai Composite was marginally lower by one point at 3,902.72.

On the other hand, the Hang Seng index was up 207.51 points, or 0.81 per cent, at 25,906. The KOSPI gained 51.37 points, or 0.75 per cent, to reach 6,903.95. The SET Composite index was trading 0.70 per cent higher at 1,621.29.

The Jakarta Composite index advanced 0.52 per cent to 6,535.30, while the Taiwan Weighted index climbed 148.33 points, or 0.33 per cent, to 45,082.07. The Straits Times index was also trading 0.13 per cent higher at 5,679.48.
