
Guwahati, 21 August (HS): Assam Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship Minister Biswajit Daimary on Friday chaired a state-level review meeting of the Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship Department (SEED) at Janata Bhawan, Dispur, to assess ongoing initiatives and performance across the state.
The meeting was attended by senior principals, principals and superintendents of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), along with Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors and officers of Employment Exchanges from across Assam.
Commissioner and Secretary of SEED, Dr Om Prakash, IAS, delivered the welcome address. Secretary Kasturi Bharali, along with senior officials of the department, was also present.
Officials made detailed presentations on the Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training (DECT), Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM), Assam Skill University and the Employment Wing. Discussions covered ITI admission performance over the past three years, ITI availability across Legislative Assembly Constituencies, and the proposed strengthening of Employment Exchanges as District Youth Welfare Centres.
The meeting also reviewed the Chief Minister’s Jibon Prerana Scheme, career and vocational guidance initiatives, North East Skill Centres (NESC), CM-FLIGHT and other key programmes.
Daimary called upon district-level officials to adopt a proactive and result-oriented approach. He stressed that skill development programmes should remain closely aligned with emerging job-market requirements to improve employability among the youth.
The Minister further emphasised coordinated efforts by ITIs and Employment Exchanges to expand skill development, employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for young people across Assam.-----------
