West Midnapore, 21 August (H.S.): Tension gripped Midnapore College on Friday following a clash between supporters of the Students' Federation of India (SFI) and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). Several students were reportedly injured in the incident.

According to information, SFI was organising a protest programme and conducting a campaign on the college campus on Friday in connection with the recent incident in Jadavpur. During the programme, some members associated with ABVP arrived at the college premises. SFI supporters reportedly questioned their presence on the campus, following which an argument broke out between the two groups.

SFI alleged that the argument escalated into a physical altercation and that ABVP-linked individuals assaulted its supporters. Several SFI supporters were reportedly injured in the incident.

ABVP has not issued an immediate response to the allegations.

Following the clash, tension prevailed on the college campus. The college administration and police are keeping a close watch on the situation to prevent any further escalation. Further details are awaited.
