
Prayagraj, 20 Aug (HS): Experts explained modern techniques
through live surgery in the Urogynecology Workshop. Seven women underwent
complex surgeries at a urogynecology workshop held at Swarup Rani Nehru
Hospital. Experts Dr. Hara Patnaik and Dr. Vineet Mishra demonstrated the
intricacies of modern urogynecological techniques through live surgery. More
than 200 surgeons and physicians participated in the workshop.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Motilal Nehru Medical College,
jointly organized the workshop with the Indian Menopause Society and the
Allahabad Menopause Society, focusing on the treatment of pelvic floor
dysfunction and urogynecology. Dr. Ranjana Khanna served as the organizing
chair, Dr. Amita Tripathi as the secretary, Allahabad Menopause Society, and
Dr. Anjula Sahay as the coordinator. The organizing team, led by Department
Head Dr. Amrita Chaurasia, successfully conducted the program.
The workshop included surgeries such as NDVH, Sutureless Ward Mayo's Operation,
Vaginal Hysterectomy, Sacrospinous Vault Suspension, and Pelvic Floor Repair on
patients with uterine prolapse, vault prolapse, cystocele, rectocele,
enterocele, and cervical elongation. Participants were provided with technical
information for each procedure through live communication from the operating
theater.
At the inaugural ceremony, Principal of Motilal Nehru Medical College, Prof.
Dr. A.K. Verma was the chief guest. Dr. Hara Patnaik and Dr. Vineet Mishra were
the guests of honor, and Prof. Dr. Neelam Singh, Chief Superintendent of SRN
Hospital, was the special guest.
The doctors of the department and the organizing team including Dr. Vandana
Bansal, Dr. Lalita Shukla, Dr. Veena Gupta, Dr. Amita Yadav, Dr. Vandana Ojha,
Dr. Anupama Upadhyay, Dr. Vandana Ojha, Dr. Nidhi Sachan, Dr. Vidhi Singh, Dr.
Muskan Kesarwani, Dr. Shikha Chaudhary, Dr. Kanika, Dr. Akanksha, Dr. Kritika,
Dr. Pooja, Dr. Pragati, Dr. Preeti, Dr. Diksha and Dr. Neha provided
significant support in making the workshop a success.
Timely treatment can improve life: Dr. Amrita - Department Head Dr. Amrita
Chaurasia said that problems like pelvic organ prolapse are often ignored by
women due to hesitation. Effective treatment is possible with modern surgical
techniques. The workshop aims to provide advanced treatment to patients and
provide practical training to physicians in complex urogynecological surgery.
