Guwahati/New Delhi, 20 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Sewa Teerth in South Block and discussed the state’s ongoing flood recovery efforts and development agenda.

During the meeting, Sarma apprised the Prime Minister of Assam’s roadmap for the next phase of the flood response, with a focus on rebuilding affected areas, restoring livelihoods and ensuring comprehensive recovery.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister said Prime Minister Modi had remained in constant touch throughout the flood response, closely reviewing the situation and extending all possible assistance.

The discussions also focused on taking forward recovery efforts following the devastating floods. Sarma said the Prime Minister reaffirmed the Government of India’s unwavering support to help Assam take the recovery mission to its logical conclusion.

The Chief Minister also briefed the Prime Minister on key initiatives undertaken by the Assam government during its first 100 days in office to fulfil the mandate entrusted to it by the people of the state.

The meeting further covered Assam’s broader development priorities, including accelerating economic growth, strengthening infrastructure, improving public service delivery and creating greater opportunities for the people.

Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister, Sarma said he valued Modi’s continued guidance and commitment to the shared vision of a developed Assam.

The meeting underscored close coordination between the Centre and the Assam government on flood recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction, as well as on advancing the state’s development agenda.-----------
