Lucknow, 20 Aug (HS): Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while
reviewing the action plan of the Department of Vocational Education, Skill
Development and Entrepreneurship on Thursday, said that ITI should be linked
with as many industries as possible. Along with developing curriculum and
training as per the requirement of industries, apprenticeship and on-job
training should be promoted, so that the trained youth can get better
employment opportunities. The Chief Minister said that skill development should
be linked with employment as well as global opportunities. There should be a
system of continuous dialogue between ITI and industries and regular employment
fairs should be organized at every divisional headquarters.
While reviewing the progress of the Centre for Innovation,
Invention, Incubation and Training (CIIIT) centres, the Chief Minister directed
to start the operations of Gorakhpur, Muzaffarnagar and Bareilly centres soon.
He said that these centres should be developed as centres of excellence for
modern technology and industry-based training. It was informed in the meeting
that with the cooperation of Tata Technologies, work is being done to upgrade
150 government ITI's, while the process of upgrading 62 other ITI's is also
going ahead. Advanced Skill Labs have been established in 37 government ITI's
with the cooperation of industries.
The Chief Minister, citing the availability of instructors
as crucial to the quality of training, directed that the selection process be
expedited. He said that a provision should be made to give selected instructors
weightage based on their experience and work in the regular appointment
process. The meeting was informed that 2,406 instructor positions have been
selected, and more than 2,200 selected instructors have already joined their
duties.
It was informed at the meeting that arrangements have been
made for the trainees to learn the official vocabulary and use of Hindi at the
workplace, and that English language training has been made compulsory for
every trainee. Given the demand for skilled manpower in countries like Japan
and Germany, the process of selecting companies to begin digital training in
foreign languages is underway.
The Chief Minister directed special attention to providing
skill training to children and youth from families associated with the Zero
Poverty Campaign and connecting them to employment and self-employment. It was
informed at the meeting that verification of 9.52 lakh youth aged 14 to 35 from
such families has been completed, of which 1.44 lakh have been identified as
eligible. Of these, 8,746 youth have been registered for training.
The meeting was informed that in the last five years, 21.13
lakh youth have received training and 12.94 lakh youth have received employment
through the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission. The Chief Minister said that
now the success of skills training should be assessed not by the number of
trainings but by the results of employment and self-employment. He said that by
providing modern skills, industry-based training and global employment
opportunities to the youth of Uttar Pradesh, work should be done rapidly
towards making the state the leading skill hub of the country.
