Mumbai, 20 August (H.S.): Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2 continues to dominate the Indian box office, while Sunny Deol's Batwara 1947 is struggling to meet audience expectations. Both films have completed six days in theatres, but a significant gap has emerged between their box-office performances. While Awarapan 2 has already crossed the Rs 100 crore mark domestically, Batwara 1947 is yet to reach Rs 50 crore.
According to early estimates from Sacnilk, Nitin Kakkar's Awarapan 2 earned approximately Rs 6.75 crore on its sixth day, taking its total net collection in India to Rs 107.50 crore. The film's worldwide gross collection has reached Rs 153.59 crore.
The action drama, starring Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi, has continued to receive a positive response from audiences and is maintaining a strong pace at the box office.
In contrast, Batwara 1947 has witnessed a continued decline in its daily earnings. As per Sacnilk's estimates, the film collected only around Rs 1.40 crore on its sixth day, marking its weakest performance so far.
The Sunny Deol-starrer has now recorded a domestic net collection of Rs 32.15 crore, while its worldwide gross earnings have reached approximately Rs 45.42 crore.
Batwara 1947 features Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Ali Fazal and Shabana Azmi in key roles. Given the film's performance during its first six days, its box-office numbers have been viewed as disappointing compared with the expectations surrounding the project.
The widening difference in collections between Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947 highlights the contrasting fortunes of the two releases at the box office, with Awarapan 2 continuing its strong run while Bantwara 1947 struggles to gain momentum.
