New Delhi, 20 August (H.S.): As part of the ‘Delhi Freedom from Garbage’ campaign, the Old Delhi Zone of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) conducted a special post-event cleanliness and sanitation drive at the Red Fort complex and surrounding areas. The campaign was carried out in the presence of Zone Chairperson Usha Sharma and area councillor Suman Gupta. Deputy Commissioner Kanika was also present on the occasion.
Following the successful conclusion of the Independence Day celebrations, the civic body has undertaken special sanitation measures at the Red Fort and adjoining areas to ensure that cleanliness arrangements remain effective. As part of the drive, special attention was given to removing waste accumulated at the event venue, cleaning roads and adjoining areas, and maintaining public spaces in a clean and orderly condition.
MCD sanitation teams are maintaining continuous surveillance of the event venue and its surrounding areas and carrying out cleaning operations as required to ensure that cleanliness and the overall appearance of the area are maintained even after the celebrations.
The MCD has also appealed to citizens not to litter public places, dispose of waste only at designated locations and actively participate in efforts to make Delhi cleaner and free from garbage.
