Assam CM Recalls Historic Hoisting of National Flag at Charaideo Police Station
Guwahati, 20 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday recalled a historic episode from the state’s freedom struggle, when the national flag was hoisted for the first time at Chotia Police Station in Assam’s Jamugurihat.

Guwahati, 20 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday recalled a historic episode from the state’s freedom struggle, when the national flag was hoisted for the first time at Chotia Police Station in Assam’s Jamugurihat.

In a social media post, the Chief Minister said that even before India attained independence, brave Assamese people of Jamugurihat had removed the British flag and hoisted the Tricolour at the police station during the Quit India Movement in 1942.

Dr. Sarma paid tribute to all those courageous Assamese who participated in the historic act and said their contribution remains a matter of pride in Assam’s history.----------
