
Mumbai, 20 August (H.S.): Emraan Hashmi-starrer Awarapan 2 has performed strongly at the box office, adding a new chapter to the actor's career. The film has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark and has emerged as one of the highest-grossing films of Hashmi's career. His return as Shivam Pandit, the character that became popular with the 2007 film Awarapan, has received an enthusiastic response from audiences.
With the climax of Awarapan 2 leaving room for the story to continue, speculation about Awarapan 3 has intensified among fans. Writer Bilal Siddiqui has now spoken about the possibility of taking the franchise forward.
Siddiqui said that no detailed discussion has taken place so far with producer Vishesh Bhatt regarding a third instalment. He explained that he and Bhatt have not had much time to speak to each other since the release of Awarapan 2.
According to the writer, he is currently unaware of the producer's plans for the next chapter of the franchise. However, he expressed hope that the possibility of Awarapan 3 would be discussed soon. Siddiqui also said he would be extremely excited if given an opportunity to continue the story.
Reflecting on the success of Awarapan 2, Siddiqui said Vishesh Bhatt had been keen for a long time to revive the Awarapan franchise. The strong audience response and the film's box-office performance have now made that effort successful.
Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 stars Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani in the lead roles, while Shabana Azmi plays a significant negative character. Following the film's successful theatrical run and its open-ended conclusion, fans are now eagerly awaiting an announcement on the franchise's next move.
