Lucknow/Mumbai, August 02 (HS): Uttar Pradesh Higher

Education Minister and BJP MLA from Agra South, Yogendra Upadhyay, paid a

courtesy call on Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at his residence

in Mumbai and requested the Maharashtra government's participation in the

construction of a divine and grand memorial to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at

Agra's historic Kothi Meena Bazaar. Chief Minister Fadnavis assured full

cooperation with the Uttar Pradesh government in this historic project.

Yogendra Upadhyay informed Chief Minister Fadnavis that

historical research conducted under his leadership by historians Prof. Sugam

Anand and Dr. Ami Adhar Nidar (late) revealed that the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb

had treacherously detained Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his son in the

mansion of Ram Singh, son of Mirza Raja Jai Singh of Jaipur. It was from this

very spot that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, demonstrating his unparalleled

courage, intelligence, and strategic acumen, defied the Mughal guards and made

his historic departure.

He stated that continuous efforts are being made to establish

a memorial to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at this historic site. The Yogi

government's acquisition of the mansion is in its final stages, and

construction of the memorial will begin as soon as it is completed.

Yogendra Upadhyaya urged the Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra

governments to jointly develop a grand memorial that symbolizes national unity,

Indian valor, and pride. He urged every tourist visiting Agra to visit this

memorial dedicated to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, along with the Taj Mahal. This

memorial will not only introduce the new generation to India's glorious history

but will also convey an inspiring message of Indian valor and self-respect to

the world.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis appreciated the initiative

and assured that the Maharashtra government will work in collaboration with the

Uttar Pradesh government in the construction of this historical monument. Maharashtra

leader Sunil Kumar Singh was also present during the meeting. It's worth noting

that a day earlier; Yogendra Upadhyay had also discussed this topic in detail

with Maharashtra's Culture Minister, Ashish Shelar.
