Lucknow, August 02 (HS): On the occasion of his birth

anniversary, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to

Pingali Venkayya, the visionary freedom warrior and inventor of the Indian

National Flag. Pingali Venkayya is honored yearly on August 2 to commemorate

his birth anniversary. August 2, 1876 was his birthdate. Pingali Venkayya

created and designed the first iteration of India's national flag (the

Tiranga), which was given to Mahatma Gandhi in 1921.

In addition to his historic role in the liberation movement, he was a

well-known polymath, educator, agriculturist, and geologist. Along with Uttar

Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, notable national leaders made remarks

recognizing Venkayya's everlasting contribution and emphasizing the Tricolor as

a timeless emblem of national unity, pride, and ambitions.

“On the birth anniversary of Pingali Venkayya, the great

freedom fighter who gave shape to India's pride, honor, and glory—the

Tricolour—a humble tribute. May our Tricolour, a symbol of your farsightedness

and patriotism, continue to instill the spirit of 'One India—Excellent India'

in the heart of every Indian,” remarked UP CM in a post on X.
