New Delhi, 02 August (H.S.): A 14-day exhibition titled “World Within the Cloth: New Orders of Weaving” will be inaugurated on August 5 at the National Crafts Museum and Hastkala Academy in New Delhi.

According to the Ministry of Textiles, the exhibition will be inaugurated by Secretary Neelam Sham Rao. The event is being organised as a key part of the nationwide celebrations of the 12th National Handloom Day, which will be observed on August 7 by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms).

Curated by Shreyansi Singh, the exhibition will provide a common platform for contemporary textile artists, designers, and craft communities. It will showcase the social, historical, and cultural dimensions of textile creation through research-based works, artist-artisan collaborations, and engaging installations.

The exhibition will feature artworks and creations by several renowned artists, designers, and institutions, including Adyam Handwoven, Abraham & Thakore, Aastha Butail, Boito, Chanakya School, Coonoor & Co., Jagriti Phukan, Jayita Chatterjee, Kardoor, Mori, Neeraj Patel, Porgai Artisans Association, Shraddha Kochhar, Shrujan, Studio Medium, Ujjwal Dey, and 23N69E.

The primary objective of the exhibition is to present textiles not merely as material objects but as mediums of knowledge, cultural memory, and creative expression. It also aims to encourage meaningful dialogue on the dynamic relationship between contemporary art, identity, sustainability, communities, and traditional craftsmanship.

The exhibition will remain open for visitors from August 6 to August 19, between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

The event will be attended by Development Commissioner (Handlooms) Dr M. Beena, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) Amrit Raj, and renowned art and culture expert Padma Bhushan awardee Rajeev Sethi as distinguished guests.
