Kolkata, 02 August (H.S.) : West Bengal Minister Agnimitra Paul has welcomed noted author Taslima Nasrin back to Kolkata after nearly two decades, describing her as one of the bravest voices in Bengali literature and praising her commitment to women's rights and freedom of expression.

In a post on social media on Saturday night, Paul wrote that when the pen speaks for the truth, it not only creates literature but also awakens the conscience of society.

Calling Nasrin one of the most courageous writers in the Bengali language, the minister said the author has consistently raised her voice on issues of women's rights, dignity, freedom and equality. Paul said that despite facing controversies, exile and personal hardships over the years, Nasrin had never allowed her voice against injustice to be silenced.

Expressing her respect for the author, Paul said Nasrin's courage, commitment to truth and continued struggle for the dignity of women would remain a source of inspiration for future generations.

The minister also appealed for the creation of a society where every woman can live with dignity rather than fear, speak freely without silence, and enjoy equality and humanity without discrimination.

Concluding her message, Paul paid tribute to Taslima Nasrin, describing her struggle as a lasting symbol of courage, humanity and justice. Her remarks came in the context of Nasrin's return to Kolkata after nearly 19 years, an event that has attracted considerable public attention and discussion on social media.
