New Delhi, 02 August (H.S.): Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and several other leaders on Sunday paid tributes to freedom fighter and the designer of India's National Flag, Pingali Venkayya, on his birth anniversary, remembering his enduring contribution to the nation and its identity.

A great freedom fighter, a true Gandhian, and the designer of India's National Flag, he left an indelible mark on the nation's history. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said Pingali Venkayya was the designer of the Tiranga, the symbol of India's national identity, self-respect, and unity. Describing him as a freedom fighter and a true patriot, Birla said the National Flag remains an eternal symbol of the country's unity, integrity, democratic values, and national pride. He added that Venkayya's life continues to inspire generations with the ideals of patriotism, dedication, and a strong sense of duty.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said Pingali Venkayya's contribution to India's freedom movement and his efforts in advancing various fields of knowledge would continue to inspire generations of Indians.

Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda said the dedicated freedom fighter gave shape to the National Flag, providing India with a distinctive symbol of national identity. He added that Venkayya's invaluable contribution continues to instil patriotism, unity, and self-respect in the hearts of every Indian.

Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan said Pingali Venkayya would forever remain immortal in the hearts of the people through his unparalleled creation that binds the nation together in the spirit of unity.

Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh also paid tribute, saying Pingali Venkayya's invaluable contribution to the creation of the National Flag would always be remembered as a source of inspiration for the nation.
