Grand launch of Drug Free Youth for Developed India –

Lucknow, August 02 (HS): On the occasion of the national

launch of Drug Free Youth for Developed India - Sankalp Abhiyan by

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his inspiring address was broadcast live in all

state and private universities and colleges of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. On this

occasion, under the direction of the Higher Education Department, in

collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) and My Bharat, extensive

public awareness programs were organized across the state, in which thousands

of students participated enthusiastically and took a pledge to build a

drug-free and developed India.

During the program, students embraced the Prime Minister's

message and took a pledge for a drug-free India. They also pledged to stay away

from drugs themselves and to raise awareness among their families, society, and

those around them about the ill effects of drugs. Poster competitions, street

plays, awareness rallies, dialogue programs, oath-taking, and other creative

activities were organized in universities and colleges across the state.

Through slogans like We all have one slogan: our

country should be drug-free, Youth will be drug-free, India will

develop, and Quit drugs, connect with your family, students

spread the message of social awareness. Enthusiasm, public participation, and a

positive atmosphere regarding the campaign were seen in educational

institutions across the state.

Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyaya stated that

drug-free youth are the greatest strength of a developed India. Every

university and college in Uttar Pradesh will become a powerful center for

nation-building. National Service Scheme (NSS), My Bharat volunteers, teachers,

and students will spearhead this campaign and spread the message of drug

de-addiction to every village and city.

He explained that this isn't just a one-day event, but a

mass movement that will last for the next 100 weeks. Every Sunday, a massive

public awareness campaign will be launched with the participation of

universities, colleges, the National Security Advisory Service (NSS), My Bharat

Volunteers, social and religious organizations, voluntary organizations, public

representatives, and civil society. Through this campaign, continuous efforts

will be made to counsel, treat, rehabilitate, and integrate drug-affected youth

into the mainstream.

The Higher Education Minister called on all Vice

Chancellors, Principals, and teachers of the state to ensure maximum

registration of youth on the My Bharat portal, saying that when society,

educational institutions, and youth power take a united pledge, change is

certain. He called on everyone to make this campaign a mass movement for the

next 100 weeks and to play an active role in building a drug-free, healthy,

strong, and developed India.
