Adityanath complimented Naib Subedar Gulveer Singh on writing a momentous

chapter in Indian athletics by capturing two medals at the 2026 Commonwealth

Games in Glasgow. The 27-year-old long-distance runner from Aligarh, Uttar

Pradesh, became the first Indian to win a Commonwealth Games medal in the men's

10,000m, followed by a historic podium finish in the 5,000m. Chief Minister

Yogi Adityanath described his accomplishments as a source of great pride for

both the state and the country. With his victory, he became the first Indian

track athlete to win medals in both the 5,000m and 10,000m events at the same

Commonwealth Games.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that Gulveer Singh's

historic achievements are extremely commendable for the country. He remarked

that Singh's passion, discipline, and accomplishment will serve as a strong

source of encouragement for young sportsmen across India and Uttar Pradesh.
