
Bongaigaon (Assam), 02 Aug (HS): A passenger killed after falling from a moving train at New Bongaigaon Junction in Assam's Bongaigaon district on Sunday, raising concerns over passenger safety at the busy railway station.
The deceased has been identified as Puranjay Kachari.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred on Platform No. 2 when Kachari allegedly attempted to get off the moving train. He reportedly lost his footing and fell onto the tracks.
The accident was severe, resulting in both of his legs being severed. He sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby private hospital for emergency treatment. However, doctors at Lower Assam Hospital declared him dead on arrival.
Family members and local residents have alleged negligence on the part of railway authorities, although no official statement has been issued by the Railways regarding the allegations.
