Dibrugarh (Assam), 02 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday announced that the state government has prepared a ₹90 crore project to address the long-standing river erosion problem in the Chabua constituency.

After visiting erosion-affected areas, the Chief Minister said necessary measures would be taken soon to implement the project and provide a permanent solution to the issue. The Chief Minister was talking to media persons after inspecting the site.

Referring to the recent floods, Sarma said Sivasagar and Charaideo districts were the worst affected by the deluge, suffering extensive damage to infrastructure, agriculture and public property.

He further announced that a detailed damage assessment survey in the four flood-hit districts would begin shortly. The survey will help the government assess losses and expedite relief, rehabilitation and compensation measures for the affected people.

The Chief Minister made these remarks while inspecting erosion-hit areas in Chabua and reviewing the flood situation in Upper Assam.---------------
