Guwahati, 02 August (HS): The Assam BJP has congratulated ace boxer Lovlina Borgohain for winning the silver medal in the women's 75 kg boxing event at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026, describing her achievement as a moment of pride for both Assam and the nation.
Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia praised Lovlina for adding another major international medal to her illustrious career. He noted that after her success at the Olympics and the Asian Games, the Commonwealth Games silver further highlights her consistency on the global stage.
The party also recalled that Assam has produced several notable Commonwealth Games medalists, including archer Jayanta Talukdar, who won bronze in 2010, and lawn bowls player Nayanmoni Saikia, who secured gold in 2022.
State BJP media panelist Amal Narayan Patwari also extended his congratulations to Lovlina and wished success to Assam's lawn bowls players Nayanmoni Saikia, Putul Sonowal and Liza Das, who are representing India in Glasgow. While Liza narrowly missed out on a medal despite a commendable performance, Nayanmoni Saikia and Putul Sonowal have continued their impressive run in the competition. The party expressed confidence that their performances would bring further glory to Assam and India.----------
