New Delhi, 19 August (H.S.): The Delhi government has taken a significant administrative decision aimed at strengthening efficiency, transparent governance and public service delivery. The Services Department has issued orders promoting 111 officers of the Delhi Administration Subordinate Services (DASS) cadre and assigning them new postings across various departments.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said in a statement issued on Wednesday that the new responsibilities assigned to the officers would help accelerate public service delivery in key sectors, including health, education and revenue. She said making Delhi’s administrative machinery more proactive and accountable remains a priority of the government. The Grade-I officers had been facing prolonged career stagnation due to the absence of promotions.

The Chief Minister said the officers have been promoted and entrusted with new responsibilities. Under the latest orders, a large number of officers have been posted as Deputy Directors (DASS) in the Education Department, a move expected to facilitate the smooth functioning of the school education system.

She added that promotions and postings have also been made to the posts of Deputy Medical Superintendents in several major Delhi hospitals, including Lok Nayak Hospital, GB Pant Hospital, GTB Hospital, B.R. Ambedkar Hospital and Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital. Officers have also been posted as Deputy Directors in the Directorate of Health Services.

The Chief Minister further said that promoted officers have been appointed as Sub-Divisional Magistrates (Headquarters) in various subdivisions under the Revenue Department and as Assistant Commissioners in the Department of Trade and Taxes (DTT). In addition, promoted officers have been posted as Deputy Secretaries in the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat and other departments, as well as in the Law and Justice Department and the Directorate of Vigilance.

She said the decision would prove to be a significant step towards making citizen-centric services faster, more transparent and more effective.

Gupta said the promotions reflect the Delhi government’s commitment to supporting the career progression of its employees and encouraging their dedication to public service. She said the government had ensured that eligible and experienced officers receive due recognition and career advancement.

The decision is also aimed at addressing the long-standing issue of stagnation among Grade-I officers of the DASS cadre. The promotions became possible following directions from the Delhi High Court and the ongoing process of cadre restructuring.

Under the orders, officers from several departments, including Education, Health, Revenue and the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat, have been assigned new positions such as Deputy Director, Deputy Secretary and Deputy Medical Superintendent.
