
New Delhi, 19 August (H.S.): Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, several Union ministers and chief ministers of various states paid tribute to Mahakavi and revered saint-poet Goswami Tulsidas on his birth anniversary on Wednesday. They recalled his immense contribution to taking devotion to the masses through the language of the people and connecting the ideals of Lord Rama with the moral and cultural values of Indian society.
Paying tribute to Tulsidas, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said his immortal work, Shri Ramcharitmanas, embodies a profound synthesis of dignity, compassion, sacrifice, truth, duty and righteousness, offering people the right direction in life across generations. He said Tulsidas transformed the profound spiritual consciousness expressed in Sanskrit into the simplicity and literary richness of the vernacular, thereby taking the message of devotion to the common people.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid homage to Tulsidas while sharing the revered lines, “Ja par kripa Ram ki hoi, ta par kripa karahin sab koi.” He said Tulsidas, through Shri Ramcharitmanas, showed society the path of truth, righteousness, compassion, duty and public welfare.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also paid tribute to Tulsidas, saying his literary works represent an invaluable legacy of Indian culture and would continue to inspire future generations to pursue public welfare and a life guided by dignity and moral values.
BJP national president Nitin Nabin said Tulsidas used simple yet powerful language to take the ideals of Lord Rama to every section of society. He said the saint-poet's immortal works continue to inspire millions of people to uphold dignity, righteousness and the values of an ideal life.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid homage to Tulsidas while sharing the famous couplet, “Ram naam manideep dharu jeeh dehri dwar,” and extended his greetings to the people on the occasion. He said Tulsidas's divine works carried the ideals of Lord Rama, Sanatan culture and the values of Indian civilisation to people across society.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, referring to the celebrated line “Ramahi keval premu piaara,” said Tulsidas connected devotion with public welfare, faith with conduct, and religion with duty and dignity.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai also remembered the revered saint-poet with respect and paid tribute to his enduring contribution.
Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal also paid homage to Goswami Tulsidas, saying his works played an important role in conveying the greatness of Sanatan Dharma and the ideals of Lord Rama to people across the country.
