Jammu, 19 August (H.S.): The Non-Gazetted Employees of Government Medical College, Kathua today commenced an indefinite peaceful demonstration demanding the early finalization and notification of their Service Recruitment Rules (SRRs).

The employees stated that despite more than seven years of service, they continue to face uncertainty regarding career progression, promotions and service conditions due to the prolonged delay in finalizing of the Service Recruitment Rules (SRRs). An earlier agitation was suspended around three months ago on the assurance that the matter would be resolved within three months. However, the assured period has now elapsed without any concrete resolution.

The employees highlighted that the absence of finalized service rules has resulted in stagnation, lack of regular promotional avenues and delayed DPCs, while the workload in the institution has increased substantially with the expansion of hospital services and rising patient load.

The employees also recalled their dedicated services during Covid-19, Floods, Emergencies and Operation Sindoor, stating that they have continued to serve the public and stand by the institution during every challenging situation.
