Guwahati, 19 August (HS): A newlywed woman Killed under suspicious circumstances in the Dispur Police Station area of Guwahati, following which police arrested her husband.

Dispur Police said on Wednesday that the body of the woman was recovered under suspicious circumstances from the Hengrabari area. The deceased has been identified as Dimpi Kalita, while her husband, Hirak Jyoti Deka, has been arrested in connection with the case.

According to police, Dimpi and Hirak Jyoti had solemnised a court marriage around two months ago. Acting on a complaint filed by the woman’s family, police arrested her husband.

The body was taken into custody and sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.----------
