Kapil Dev Agarwal
Lucknow, 19 Aug (HS): The Yogi government is going to make
extensive changes in the training system of ITIs to connect the youth of the
state with modern skills, employment, and self-reliance. The government's goal
is not to limit the state's government ITIs to traditional training centers but
to develop them as future skill and employment centers in line with modern
technology, new trades, and industry needs.
In this regard, on Wednesday, Kapil Dev Agarwal, Minister of
State (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education, Skill Development, and
Entrepreneurship Department, inspected the Directorate of Training and
Employment, Uttar Pradesh, located in Lucknow. He reviewed various departmental
activities and held a detailed meeting with officials to review the training
system, progress of departmental schemes, and efforts to connect youth with
employment.
In the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the
training system in government ITIs operating across the state, availability of
trainers, technical resources, quality of training, modern trades, and
preparations to connect trainees with employment.
Kapil Dev Agarwal said that the way young people learn is
changing rapidly, and the influence of digital media and new technologies is
continuously increasing. In such a situation, making skill training modern,
technology-based, and employment-oriented is the need of the hour. He
instructed officials to integrate digital learning, modern technology, and
industry needs into the training system and ensure maximum utilization of
available technical resources in ITIs.
Minister Agarwal said that ITIs are a strong medium for
better careers and employment for youth. An effective action plan should be
prepared to increase the attraction and trust of students towards ITIs.
Instructions were also given to provide information to students at school and
college levels about modern trades in ITIs, employment opportunities, and
skill-based career options. He said that by promoting modern and
employment-oriented courses in ITIs, the training system should be made more
attractive for youth.
Minister Kapil Dev Agarwal said that the objective of skill
training is not just to provide certificates to youth but to make them capable
of employment and self-employment. For this, there is a need to strengthen
coordination between ITIs and industries and provide training according to
industry demand. He emphasized taking concrete steps to connect trainees with
employment opportunities and including communication skills, soft skills,
interview skills, and essential workplace competencies in training, in addition
to technical proficiency.
Minister Agarwal directed officials to develop the state's
ITIs as future skill centers in line with new technology, modern trades, and
industry requirements. He said that skilled youth are the biggest strength of
self-reliant Uttar Pradesh. The Yogi government's goal is that every youth
trained by ITIs should achieve respectable employment through their skills and
become an active participant in the economic progress of the state.
On this occasion, Principal Secretary Dr. Hari Om, Director
of Training Abhishek Singh, and other senior officials of the department and
directorate were present.
