Hooghly, 19 August (H.S.): Administrative officials on Wednesday visited the Westpara area under Salepur-1 Gram Panchayat in the Arambagh Assembly constituency to assess the flood situation on the ground. Arambagh Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Ravi Kumar Meena inspected the waterlogged areas and interacted with local residents to hear about their problems.
Arambagh MLA Hemant Bag and Pursurah MLA Biman Ghosh were also present during the inspection. Officials and public representatives reviewed the difficulties faced by residents due to the flooding, areas affected by waterlogging and the administrative measures required to deal with the situation.
Discussions were also held regarding the safety of local residents and the provision of necessary assistance. Emphasis was placed on closely monitoring water levels and the overall situation, with instructions to take immediate measures if the situation deteriorates further.
The risk of flooding has increased in several parts of the Arambagh subdivision due to continuous rainfall and rising water levels in rivers. The visit by administrative officials and elected representatives has provided some reassurance to residents amid the prevailing situation.
