Lucknow, 19 Aug (HS): Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish
Mahana said on Wednesday that in the digital age, cybersecurity is crucial for
every individual, institution, and public representative. Cybercriminals are
constantly targeting people in new ways. In such a scenario, awareness and
vigilance are the most effective means of preventing cybercrime. He said that
legislators should not only be vigilant about cybersecurity themselves but also
educate the public in their constituencies about it.
A program titled Cyber Security: A Digital Security
Briefing for Legislators was held for legislators at a hotel in the
capital. The program highlighted the growing threats of cybercrime and
practical measures to protect against them. Renowned cyber expert Amit Dubey
briefed the legislators in detail about cybercrimes such as phishing, fake
calls, suspicious links, OTP fraud, password theft, social media account
hacking, and misuse of digital identities.
He said not to click on any unknown links, share OTPs,
passwords, or bank information with anyone, and avoid downloading suspicious
apps. He advised keeping strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication,
and regularly updating your mobile and computer.
Speaker Satish Mahana stated that in the first year of his
tenure, MLAs from various regions were called and communicated with. He added
that during his four and a half years in office, numerous public interest
issues have been raised in the Assembly, and now approximately four months
remain before the notification of new elections. It is essential to effectively
communicate the issues raised in the House and the work done to the public.
Minister of State Rajni Tiwari, praising the leadership of
Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, said that many changes have taken place in the
Assembly, which have yielded positive results. These changes have taught us a
lot. She said that the Uttar Pradesh Assembly has become a model assembly in
the country today. This program on cyber security for MLAs is also an important
innovation.
Vishambar Singh Yadav, Anil Singh, Shashank Trivedi, and
Sandeep Patel, along with other MLAs, participated. The MLAs also engaged in a
question-and-answer session with Amit Dubey, and various topics related to
cyber security were discussed in detail. Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, along
with Ministers of State Mayankeshwar Singh and Rakesh Rathore, and a large
number of MLAs were present at the event.
