New Delhi, 19 August (H.S.): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Ankit, a resident of Hisar, for his alleged involvement in a human trafficking and cyber-slavery network linked to scam compounds in Southeast Asia. He is accused of being part of a network involved in trafficking people to scam compounds in the region, where victims were allegedly subjected to cyber slavery.
According to the CBI, its investigation has revealed that the accused sent at least four people from the Hisar area to scam compounds in Myanmar and Cambodia in 2025. The victims were allegedly lured with false promises of employment and subsequently forced to pay large sums of money or lure other people into the network before they could return home.
The CBI recovered several crucial pieces of evidence from the accused’s mobile phone. These included conversations with operators of scam compounds in Myanmar and Cambodia, advertisements posted on social media platform X and chats conducted through Telegram. Investigators also uncovered several cryptocurrency transactions, which were allegedly received as commissions.
The CBI registered a case against the network in December 2025. Subsequently, raids were conducted across four states in May and June this year, leading to the arrest of three other accused persons.
The CBI said further investigation into the case is underway.
