Guwahati, 19 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday announced plans to establish special facilitation centres at at least seven key locations in Guwahati to make government services more accessible to citizens.

According to the Chief Minister, the centres will have the presence of Sub-Registrars and will provide services related to land and flat registration, among others. The initiative aims to reduce the need for citizens to visit the District Commissioner’s office for such services.

Sarma said the centres would save people both time and travel expenses while bringing government services closer to their doorsteps. He added that the move would also help make the administrative system simpler, more transparent and citizen-centric.
