
Guwahati, 19 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that his government remains committed to protecting the rights, traditions and interests of the state’s indigenous communities.
In a social media post, the Chief Minister said that, respecting the views of members of the Moran and Motok communities regarding the recent special decision on Aadhaar card applications, the government has considered a special relaxation for them.
Under the relaxation, new applicants from the Moran and Motok communities who are aged 18 years or above will be allowed to apply for Aadhaar until March 31, 2027.----------
