Chennai, 17 August (H.S.): Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Monday marked the TVK government’s first 100 days in office by outlining its welfare, development and administrative initiatives, with investments, employment and rural infrastructure forming the centrepiece of its agenda.

In a post on X, Vijay described his administration as the “conscience of the people for a new era” and said transparency, integrity and growth would continue to guide the government.

He said the Tamil Nadu Investors’ Summit 2026 had attracted investment commitments of more than Rs 1 lakh crore. The government had also closed 717 State-run liquor outlets under its phased alcohol-reduction policy and constituted 65 special task forces to intensify action against narcotics.

Under the TN-Vetri rural rejuvenation programme, Rs 6,000 crore would be allocated annually to improve roads, sanitation and drinking-water facilities. The Vijay Skill Development Programme would train 12 lakh students and one lakh young people, while the “Vijayam 150” initiative would guarantee 150 days of employment.

Vijay said Rs 812 crore had been earmarked for a marriage assistance programme offering eligible beneficiaries a three-gram gold coin and a silk sari. Another gold assistance scheme received Rs 560 crore.

The government had announced incentives ensuring Rs 4,000 per tonne of sugarcane and Rs 2,750 per quintal of paddy. Crop loans worth nearly Rs 6,000 crore had also been waived, while the Vetri Women’s Goat-Rearing Scheme would support rural livelihoods.

Other initiatives included Rs 3,500 crore for the Vetri Housing Scheme, 200 units of free electricity and Rs 710 crore to expand the Perunthalaivar Kamaraj Breakfast Scheme.

The government also allocated Rs 2,000 crore for the Vetri Laptop Scheme and announced bicycles, helmets and water bottles for Class XI students.

Vijay said contactless property registration and streamlined planning approvals for multi-storeyed buildings were among the administrative reforms introduced during the period.
