New Delhi, 17 August (H.S.): Outer Delhi Warriors registered a 21-run victory over Purani Dilli 6 in a high-scoring Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 encounter on Sunday night, with all-rounder Harsh Tyagi making a crucial contribution with both bat and ball.

Reflecting on his performance, Tyagi said, “When I went in to bat, there were six overs remaining and the target was to take the score close to 200. I scored around 30 important runs. My first two overs with the ball were difficult, but in the final two overs, I focused on restricting the flow of runs.”

Explaining his bowling strategy during the crucial overs, he said, “I knew I might concede a few runs during the slog overs, but I trusted my preparation. I have worked extensively on yorkers and slower deliveries in Delhi throughout the year so that batters find it difficult to anticipate what is coming. The most important thing was to execute the deliveries properly. I implemented the plan I had devised on the field well.”

Speaking about his role as an all-rounder, Tyagi said, “I give equal importance to both my batting and bowling. I see myself as a bowling all-rounder who can bowl my full quota of overs and contribute in the lower order with a good strike rate.”

Batting first, Outer Delhi Warriors posted a formidable 219/5 in their 20 overs. Yash Sharma produced a blistering 86 off 36 balls and shared a 120-run opening partnership with Priyansh Arya, who scored 30 off 21 deliveries.

Tyagi then provided a quickfire 32 off 15 balls, while Akshay Saini remained unbeaten on 49 off 23 deliveries to propel the Warriors beyond the 200-run mark. For Purani Dilli 6, Digvesh Rathi was the standout bowler, claiming three wickets for 25 runs in his four overs.

Chasing 220, Purani Dilli 6 got off to an excellent start through Aryan Gaur and Samarth Seth, who put together a 104-run opening partnership. Gaur scored 65 off 37 balls, while Seth contributed 42 off 24 deliveries.

However, Aman Chaudhary changed the complexion of the contest by taking three wickets in his first three overs. The setbacks slowed Purani Dilli 6’s scoring rate and caused the target to increasingly slip out of reach.

Lalit Yadav and Ashwini Chillar attempted to steady the innings, but with 41 runs required from the final over, the match was effectively beyond Purani Dilli 6. Outer Delhi Warriors eventually secured a 21-run victory.
