New Delhi, 17 August (H.S.): Delhi Development Minister Kapil Mishra said the government was working at a rapid pace to modernise agricultural markets and improve basic infrastructure and facilities. He said the government was committed to ensuring proper food, nutrition and healthcare for workers.
An Atal Canteen along with an Ayushman Arogya Mandir is also being launched at Azadpur Mandi, providing people working at the market with access to both nutritious food and healthcare facilities.
In a statement issued on Monday, Minister Kapil Mishra said Delhi would move forward with renewed energy and momentum to fulfil the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ and a ‘Viksit Delhi’. As part of this initiative, he said the government had fulfilled its commitment to establishing 100 Atal Canteens on Sunday. Two Atal Canteens were also inaugurated at Azadpur Mandi.
He said CCTV cameras would be installed across the markets to prevent animals from entering the market premises and to improve overall monitoring and security.
Kapil Mishra said a proposal to improve the sewerage system at the market had been approved at a board meeting. He added that damaged roads would be repaired. Work was also underway to introduce an online entry system at the market’s entrance gates.
He further said efforts were being made to integrate the vehicle-weighing process with technology so that vehicles could be weighed at the time of entering the market. This, he said, would make the entire system more organised, efficient and modern.
Kapil Mishra said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had highlighted the agricultural sector as part of the “Saptadhara of Shakti” from the Red Fort and that, under his leadership, farmers’ welfare as well as agriculture and allied sectors were receiving greater encouragement.
Appealing to traders and officials to cooperate in improving cleanliness at Azadpur Mandi, Mishra said everyone would benefit from the proper and timely disposal of waste.
