Lucknow, 17 Aug (HS): State Minister of State (Independent

Charge) for Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, Agricultural Foreign Trade

and Agricultural Export, Dinesh Pratap Singh launched the newly developed

online portal https://potato.uphorticulture.in/ for the successful and

transparent implementation of these schemes at Udyan Bhawan, Sapru Marg,

Lucknow.

The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has launched three new

schemes for the benefit of potato producing farmers, which include Bhamashah

Bhavan Stabilization Fund of Rs 1000 crore, waiver of storage charges and

discount on potato seeds. A committee headed by the Agricultural Production

Commissioner will determine the production cost of potatoes. Farmers will

receive a subsidy equal to 25% of the determined production cost or the

difference between the production cost and the selling price, whichever is lower.

Farmers will get a subsidy of up to Rs 100 per quintal for

potatoes stored in private cold storage, with a maximum limit of Rs 20,000 per

farmer. To provide new and high quality potato seeds to the farmers, a scheme

of discount on seed selling rate has been started, under which farmers will get

a maximum discount of Rs 1000 per quintal on purchasing seeds from the

department. These schemes launched by the Yogi government aim to protect potato

growers from losses due to fall in market prices, storage costs and cost of

quality seeds.
