Jammu, 17 August (H.S.): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested a Probationary Sub-Inspector (PSI) posted at Janipur Police Station for allegedly demanding and accepting Rs 10,000 bribe from a complainant on the pretext of settling a domestic dispute.

The arrested police officer has been identified as PSI Danish Habib, a 2024-batch officer.

Officials said the amount was reportedly sought on the assurance of settling the marital dispute between the couple and allegedly preventing registration of an FIR against the complainant.

Acting on a complaint, they said, the CBI laid a trap and caught Habib while allegedly accepting the bribe.

The arrest was made around 6 pm at a naka outside Janipur Police Station, where the officer was allegedly intercepted while receiving the money.

The CBI subsequently took the accused into custody and initiated further legal proceedings.
